Last night, I was reading a book when my phone rang. I answered it and heard my friend's voice on the other end. She was crying and sounded really upset. I asked her what was wrong, but she was too emotional to speak clearly. After a few moments, she managed to tell me that she had lost her job. I was really sorry to hear that and tried to comfort her. I suggested that we meet up and talk about it, but she said she didn't feel like seeing anyone. We talked for a while longer, and eventually, she started to calm down. Before we hung up, I told her to call me anytime she needed to talk.
