The differences:

My mom used to order things or stuff to be done, whereas I request my kids to do.

She never explained anything properly, because of lack of patience whereas I have all the patience in the world and will explain things to my kids.

She never said sorry to me after hurting me whereas I sometimes even breakdown after hurting my kids.

The similarities:

I don't talk bad about others in front of my kids just as mom, she never gossips.

I teach my kids the importance of helping others sometimes even at the risk of our own well-being just like my dad used to do be and also teach us to have helping nature.

She is correct from her point of view. Her mom (my grandmother) was a very strict one so my mom grew up seeing her and had inculcated her temper, anger, commitments, perfection in everything whereas I observed my mom and picked only the stuff that I felt wasn't hurting me and left out the things that were hurtful as I realised that if that can hurt me then it will definitely hurt others.
