I strongly agree with the idea that mobile phones should be banned from schools. There are several reasons why I think this way.
Firstly, even though mobile phones have a lot of useful functions that can be used to help with the learning process like calculator and audio recorder, they can be a huge distraction. It's really hard for teachers to keep every student's attention on the lesson when they have a device with a lot of interesting and fun apps with them. Kids can stop listening to their teacher to check their social media, pass another level of their favourite game or text a friend.
Secondly, I think it's a great opportunity to reduce the screen time. I myself spend a lot of time staring at my phone and the weekly screen time reports I get are terrifying. Realizing how much time a week I spend staring at my screen just breaks my heart as I could have spent that time doing something useful.
These are the reasons why I think it's a really good idea to ban mobile phones in schools.
