Dear Natasha,

I have recently moved to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Kiev is a very beautiful city. I like its lanes and streets lined with chestnut trees. The capital is famous for its architectural structures such as St. Andrew's Cathedral, Kiev Pechersk Lavra, Khreshchatyk Square and many others. The city stands on the river Dnieper and about 3 million people live in the city. It is included on the list of 10 largest cities of Europe. Kiev is one of the oldest cities in the world. It's more than 2500 years old. Forests, parks and gardens occupy more than half of the territory of the city. Kiev is often called the city in the park. There are lots of theatres, museums and other landmarks in Kiev. I recommend you to visit this wonderful city. That's all for now.

Thank you very much for your letter. I am glad that you are fine. I'm fine too.

In your letter you ask me to drop you a few lines about my trip to Kiev. Well, as you know I visited Kiev with my parents in August during my summer holidays.

We were lucky with the weather. It was sunny and warm all the time. Kiev is the Hero-city and the capital of Ukraine, so it's a big industrial, political, cultural and transport centre of the country. It stands on the Dnieper river. About 3 million people live in it. The city is very green and they say that there are a lot cities that have a lot of parks, but 'Kiev is situated in one of the biggest parks itself.' Because there are really a lot of trees and flowers in and round the capital. (By the way, the leaf of a chestnut  tree is a symbol of Kiev.) The city is very old. It was founded in the Vl century. In the city there are a lot of sights such as monuments, museums, theatres, cinemas, parks, old temples and cathedrals. There's a circus, a dolphinarium, a zoo, a large aqua-park in the capital. A lot of tourists visit Kiev, the capital of Ukraine every year. There are a lot of modern hotels and cafes for tourists. We stayed in the hotel 'Kiev' on the 20th floor. I liked the city very much and recommend to visit it. To my mind it is really worth visiting.
