Cars burn petrol, factories and power stations burn coal and emit toxic fumes. The air becomes polluted.

This pollution gathered in clouds and with the oxygen and water in the atmosphere becomes acid. The wind carry these clouds far away. When it rains, the pollution lands everywhere. Water and soil become toxic. It harms and kills fish and poisons trees and plants.

The government have been trying to reduce the air pollution. Some industries have been using new technologies to make factory smoke less harmful to the environment. We can help too by using cars less or by using solar power to heat our homes.
