A day in the life of a cowboy
Hi! I'm Chad. I'm a cowboy in Montana, USA. I work on a big
farm with ten other cowboys. The farm has got 3,000 cows.
In the summer I sleep in a tent. I get up very early, at 5 am.
We cook breakfast on a fire. After breakfast I get ready. Then
I ride with the other cowboys to the 'cow camp'.
Let me tell you about my job. In the winter we give food to the cows. In the spring there are lots of
calves (baby cows). In the summer we move the cows to new places every day. We work 16 hours
day in the summer
. But on Thursdays we ride in the rodeo. That's fun!
I'm very tired in the evening. But before dinner I clean my horse and give him his dinner. He's very
important! Then I get washed and I have dinner with the other cowboys. We eat lots of meat and
potatoes and drink coffee.
A cowboy's life is dangerous but I love my job. And I love my horse. I don't wear a uniform but I
wear jeans and a cowboy shirt. And I've got a big cowboy hat, of course!
