Maurice the mustanger visited Louis at night and in secrecy outside of her house. He came there to tell Louis that he was leaving to go to Aloma, to meet Phelim, his servant and best friend. Meanwhile, Louis's jealous cousin Calhoun noticed the pair from inside. Calhoun's anger and desperate love for Louis fueled his hate for the mustanger and pushed him to warn Henry.Henry immediately ran outside and started yelling at Maurice, while his sister desperately tried to quiet him.  Henry threatened to shoot Maurice, but his sister's love for Maurice stopped him before he could do such a thing.
