Tikhvin — city (from 1773) in Russia, the administrative center of the Tikhvin municipal district, Leningrad region and the Tikhvin urban settlement.

4 Nov 2010 the city was awarded the title of city of military glory. 9 Dec 2011 on the square bearing the name of Marshal Kirill Meretskov, was discovered stele "City of military glory".

Population — 57 970[2] people (2016).

The city is a major industrial and cultural center and transportation hub.
