5. The morning was foggy and cold but then the weather (changed) and we (went) on a picnic.
6. When at last the Browns (got) to the lake,   it  (was raining)  heavily.  
7.  The weather forecast (says) it (is raining)  today but  look,  the sun (is shining). 
8. Yesterday we (decided) to go to the beach where we (swam) and (lay) in the sun.
