Этот человек - связист Матвей Путилов.
Когда на Мамаевом кургане в самый напряженный момент боя прекратилась связь, Матвей ликвидировал разрыв провода. Но когда он восстановливал поврежденную линию связи, осколками мины ему раздробило обе руки. Теряя сознание, Путилов крепко зажал зубами концы провода, и связь была восстановлена.
