Киргизская Автономная Социалистическая Советская Республика — казахская автономия в составе РСФСР и СССР, существовавшая с 1920 по 1925 год. Республиканская столица — город Оренбург. В результате национально-территориального размежевания в 1925 году в состав республики были переданы территории современных Жетысуской, Алматинской, Жамбылской, Туркестанской и Кызылординской областей, а также Каракалпакия, из состава республики была изъята Оренбургская губерния. В связи с этими значительными переменами и утратой прежней столицы Оренбурга, столица республики была перенесена в город Ак-Мечеть, в 1925 году республика в её новых границах получила новое название: Казахская
