More than a dozen years have passed since the day when the end of the Great Patriotic War was declared. Our generation cannot even imagine what time it was. After all, we were lucky to be born into the world and not know the grief and devastation that occurred during that terrible period. We know about the war from the stories of our great-grandparents, as well as from literature and films. And for millions of people this terrible time was real.Therefore, I can say with confidence that this holiday is very important for each of us. It is necessary to once again thank our veterans who survived, and those who are no longer with us, for this feat that they did in their lives. We must treat with understanding those people thanks to whom we can live in peace. After all, there are fewer and fewer veterans who can talk about that terrible time for our Motherland. May 9 is the day when life won a victory over a terrible and painful death. This is a holiday when everyone cries, remembering those terrible days, crying with joy that this will never happen again, and with pride that they won.
