Not far from one village, there lived a rich man and a poor man. The rich man owned a magnificent horse, while the poor man had a worn-out old nag. One day, the rich man's horse ran away and was never found. The poor man felt sorry for him and said, "What a pity! It was such a beautiful animal."

A few days later, the rich man's horse returned, accompanied by a wild stallion. The rich man was overjoyed and said, "What luck! Now I have two horses!" The poor man said, "That's wonderful for you, but what about me? I still have my old nag."

The next day, the rich man's son tried to ride the wild stallion but was thrown off and broke his leg. The poor man came to visit him and said, "I'm sorry to hear about your son. What a misfortune!" The rich man replied, "It's not so bad. At least he's alive."

A few weeks later, war broke out and all the young men in the village were drafted into the army. The rich man's son was exempted because of his broken leg, while the poor man's son had to go to war. The poor man was heartbroken but said, "At least my son is healthy and strong. I pray that he will return safely."

In the end, the rich man realized that wealth and possessions are not everything, and that sometimes misfortunes can turn into blessings. The poor man learned that happiness does not depend on material things, but on love and gratitude for what one has.
