Hello everyone
So, I am at a research station in Antarctica, the coldest.
This is the windiest and driest continent in the world! It's summer now, so the weather is quite "mild" - 0 °C today! Although there are still a lot of storms, and of course the sun never sets in summer, which is really strange! Despite the biting cold, the scenery and wildlife here are incredible. There are seals everywhere, and yesterday I saw a humpback whale.
Everything reminds me of winter here! The temperature drops to about -40 °C, and the sun does not rise at all. There will be only 20 of us, and we won't have any guests for 7 months. It's going to be difficult, but at least I'll be very busy. As a marine biologist, I'm going to study how marine wildlife adapts to extreme weather conditions. I'm also going to conduct a survey of the endangered Emperor Penguin. I can't wait to get started!
Tomorrow, all beginners will take a ski and sled survival course for a week. We're going to set up camp in the snow and learn things like what to do if we fall into a crevice. I hope there won't be a snowstorm like on my first day here.
