Му favourite subject at school was certainly English. I am very grateful to my English teacher who made me interested is this subject. She was the person I loved best at school, because our English lessons were always interesting and instructive. And she always spoke about the importance of leaning foreign languages. English was not difficult for me and I coped with home assignments without any effort. But I tried to do my best to read and learn more additional texts and words in order to improve my knowledge of English. Besides, I am fond of English and American literature and read a lot of stories by English and American writers. It is difficult for me to read the books in the original and I read adapted ones. I have a lot of tapes and cassettes at home and try to listen to them as much as possible. My teacher used to say that foreign languages are very important. With the formation of states they are important for the development of international contacts. More and more direct contacts are establisher with the countries of Europe, with the United States of America, Great Britain, Canada and other English speaking countries. English is spoken practically all over the world. It is spoken as the mother tongue in Great Britain, the United States of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Besides, a lot of other people speak English in Japan, India, China, Africa and many other countries. I think English is worth studying. There is a proverb "A new language - a new world. "Our businessmen, tourists, experts often go abroad. In my opinion every visitor should be able to find his own way about in an English-speaking community without interpreters. Nowadays a lot of people study foreign languages in every possible way. Foreign-language study groups are organized at industrial enterprises, at the offices of big firms, at the educational establishments, at research institutes. That's why the teachers of foreign languages are in great demand. Taking into account the economic development in our country,hundreds of joint ventures have appeared in every city and town of our country recently. And a lot of good specialists and interpreters are required for this reason .Besides, a lot of foreign delegations keep coming to our country and most likely they don't know our language perfectly, and the thing is they want to settle their problems in our country and visit the places of interest. So, there is no doubt, foreign languages are worth studying.
