How to write a summary
In a summary you basically retell what a story is about, as clearly as you can. You answer questions such as:
* What is the plot of the story? What happens?
* Who are the main characters of the story? Describe them, what they look like and their personalities.
* Where and when does the story take place?
* What´s the basic themes (subjects) of the story? One of them in the book you´ve read is friendship. What are the other themes? Explain!
The structure of your summary needs to have three parts:
A beginning. Your job is to catch the reader´s attention and also to point forward to the basic idea of the story.
For example you can start with a thought:
"Can friends become like a family to
people? This is the case of...".
Or like this:
"It´s the end of summer, the tree house gang, a group of twelve-year-old boys are
going out for an adventure before they split and go off to different schools."
2. A middle. That´s where most of your information will be. It´s really the answers to the questions above (plot, characters, setting and themes).
3. An ending. Here is where you wrap up your summary. The reader needs to understand that your text has reached its end. One way of ending is to give a comment about the story, like this:
"I enjoyed reading this book because I could relate to the boys and their lives. It was mostly fun and entertaining, even if sad things happen in it too."

Ответ:Writing a summary is about condensing a story's main points and themes concisely. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to write an effective summary:
1. **Understand the Story:**
- Read or watch the content carefully to grasp the plot, characters, setting, and themes.
2. **Identify the Key Elements:**
- Determine the main plot points, key characters, the setting, and central themes.
3. **Craft the Beginning:**
- Start with an engaging hook or an intriguing question that introduces the core idea of the story.
- For example: "Can friendships grow as strong as family bonds? This question lies at the heart of the story of..."
4. **Develop the Middle:**
- Provide a concise summary of the plot, including the key events that drive the story.
- Describe the main characters, their appearances, personalities, and their roles in the plot.
- Explain where and when the story takes place, setting the scene for the reader.
- Discuss the story's themes, not just friendship but any other significant ones, and explain how they play a role in the narrative.
5. **Conclude the Summary:**
- Wrap up your summary by giving a final thought or comment about the story.
- Share your personal opinion, if appropriate, and briefly explain why you enjoyed or were impacted by the story.
Here's an example of an entire summary for a fictional book or movie:
**Beginning:**
Can friendships grow as strong as family bonds? This question lies at the heart of the story of a group of twelve-year-old boys who make up the tree house gang.
**Middle:**
It's the end of summer, and the tree house gang, a close-knit group of friends, embark on an adventurous journey before they part ways to attend different schools. The story is set in a small suburban town where the boys share countless childhood memories and secrets in their beloved tree house. As they face challenges and tests of their friendship, they come to realize that the bonds they've formed are, in many ways, as powerful as family ties. While friendship is the central theme, the story also explores themes of growing up, facing change, and the nostalgia of youth.
**End:**
I enjoyed reading this book because I could relate to the boys and their lives. It was a fun and entertaining journey filled with nostalgia for my own childhood. The story beautifully captures the essence of enduring friendships and the bittersweet moments of growing up.
