The Great Plague In the fourteenth century a terrible plague killed many thousands of people in England. The plague came and went many times in the next three hundred years. Then, in 1665, rats from ships carried the disease to London again. King Charles II and marry rich people went to the country to escape the plague, but poor people didn't leave the city.
