Bearwithgreathair You’re right, the irst ilm was terrible. I went
to see it on the big screen the day it came
out – wow, what a huge waste of time! I
would rather throw my money down the
drain than pay to see that again.
A di ferent director might be able to get
better performances out of the actors,
© MM Publications
but I doubt he will be able to ix the awful
camerawork. They should get a new camera
operator to do the ilming, as well as a new
director.

Amina_Atyrau If you ask me, they ought to change the
screenwriter, not the director. I thought the
director did a pretty good job; he set up the
scenes really well, and some of the tense
moments – for instance, at the end, when
we discovered who killed Jennifer (played
by Mandy Finn) – were perfect. The writing,
however, was just horrible. They added in so
many scenes that were never in the book,
and some of the characters had completely
di ferent personalities! Mandy Finn was on ire
(pun intended!!) as the lead actor, but even she
couldn’t do much with the awful lines she was
given. No, I’ll give this one a miss for certain.

Hipsterfox Really? I’m surprised to hear this because
I quite enjoyed the irst ilm even though I
didn’t expect it to be as good as the book.
I thought the character development was
really clever, and I felt that, on the whole, the
characters were true to the novel.
I have always thought that big studios ought
to listen to their audience for a change and
make the ilms that we really want to see.
That’s exactly what they did with On Fire,
and I’m looking forward to the second one!
