Мешканцям цього середовища їжі завжди достатньо. Дуже важливо лише міцно закріпитися на місці проживання. Тому багато з них мають гачки, шипики, присоски, за допомогою яких прикріпляються. Нестача кисню в проблемою тому хімічні реакції, що забезпечують тварину енергією, відбуваються без участі кисню. Але «енергетичний ефект» таких реакцій невисокий, тому й тварини не виявляють великої активності. Та й куди їм поспішати?
