Walt Disney and His Heroes

Walt Disney was born in Chicago. He had a talent for drawing and an interest in photography. After serving in the Army he began producing a series of cartoon films

In 1927 he made his first successful cartoon. The series was called "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit." He got his lasting success in 1928 when "Steamboat willi e^ * and "Mickey Mouse" appeared.

In 1955 he created "Disneyland", a huge amusement park in Southem California. This is a great kingdom of fantasy and technology. Fifty thousand visitors come to the park every day. It was built like a movie. Disneyland's streets consist of six parts with stores, cafes and restaurants. Each part shows the famous cartoon characters

Walt Disney wanted to build one more big park in the east of the United States in Florida. But Disney himself didn't live to see the second part open.

The work which Walt Disney began continues today. The first Disneyland was opened in Japan in 1983 Nowadays the Disney's studio produces live action films regularly. They are very popular with children and grown-ups throughout the world.​
