Climbing Mount Fuji
Most people go on holiday to relax on a beach or go sightseeing in a city, but not me. Instead, I prefer a holiday with a bit of adventure! **E** However, the most unforgettable trip was when I climbed Mount Fuji in Japan.
I arrived at the foot of the mountain in the mid-afternoon sun and looked up towards my goal. **B** With a blanket of clouds around its peak, it seemed very far away. But this just made me want to climb it even more! Without waiting a second longer, I walked through the entrance and began my journey.
At the foot of the mountain there was a beautiful forest. However, as I got closer to the top, the scenery began to change. **A** On top of that, the temperature dropped sharply. It was like a completely different world.
I made the last half of my journey in darkness with only a headlamp to guide me. It was much more difficult than I thought it would be. **C** Step after exhausted step I continued, until at last I reached the top. By then, the morning sun was in the sky, highlighting the tiny towns, lakes and forests below me. I let out a huge cry. I truly was on top of the world!
