London, one of the world's biggest cities, situated on the river Thames, is the capital of the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. London is a significant industrial, cultural, and political center. The city is more than 2000 years old. It was founded by the Romans who called it Londinium, but the town didn't become the capital for a thousand years. Only in the 11th century king Edward the first make London the capital.

London has a lot of wonderful sights which attract the attention of people from every part of the world. Every century brought new historical monuments. Among them are the Houses of Parliament or the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben.

In the center of London is Buckingham Palace. It is the London residence of all kings and queens of the country. Also, London is famous for its ceremony: the changing of the guard. It happens every day at Buckingham Palace and this event is indeed worth seeing.

In my opinion, London is a great city and I would love to visit it one day!
