Going to the Supermarket Martha is at the supermarket, getting ready for a house party. She has a list of what she needs with her as she goes along. The first section is greengrocer's. Martha sees apples, bananas, cherries, grapes, and strawberries. She looks at her list and take : 6 apples, 1 bag of cherries, 1 bag of grapes, 2 boxes of strawberries Martha gets her fruit and looks for the bananas. They are on sale for much cheaper than they are normally. She picks up 3 bananas. Next are vegetables. She sees potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and salad in boxes. She buys 6 carrots and 3 onions. But there aren't any mushrooms! As she is putting her vegetables into her trolley, Martha checks 5 boxes of salad and chooses 2 of them. She pushes her trolley ahead. The next section is butcher's. She sees meat, ham and chicken. She looks at the meat that is on sale and chooses a kilo of ham. Then Martha goes to the fish section. She looks at the fish but doesn't take anything. At the dairy Martha puts into the trolley a piece of cheese and 2 bottles of milk. She needs rice, bread, salt, sugar, and flour. She goes to the grocery's section and gets: 2 bags of rice, 4 loaves of bread, a kilo of sugar, 0,5 kilo of flour. Then Martha realizes that she has forgotten something. She runs back and gets 1 jar of coffee and then runs to the cashier. She pays in cash. Then she puts her shopping bags into her car and leaves. 1. Why did Martha buy so much food? 2.
