I am excited to tell you about the holidays we celebrate in my country. We have many festive occasions throughout the year, but one of the most important and widely celebrated holidays is our Independence Day.
Independence Day is celebrated on the 15th of August every year. It marks the day when India gained freedom from British colonial rule in 1947. It is a national holiday and celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country.
The preparations for Independence Day start weeks in advance. People decorate their houses, streets and public places with the national flag and colourful banners. Schools, colleges and government offices organize cultural programs and events to showcase the country's diverse heritage and culture.
On the day of Independence Day, people gather in public places like parks and stadiums to witness the flag-hoisting ceremony. The Prime Minister of India addresses the nation on this day from the historic Red Fort in Delhi. Patriotic songs are sung, and the national anthem is played. In the evening, people light up their houses with colourful lights and celebrate with friends and family.
The feeling of patriotism and national pride is palpable during Independence Day. People come together to celebrate the hard-won freedom and remember the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. It is truly a day of great significance for every Indian.
Apart from Independence Day, we also celebrate festivals like Diwali, Holi, Eid, Christmas, and many more. Each festival has its unique significance and is celebrated with equal enthusiasm and fervour.
