The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle is a collection of detective stories. They all tell how a brilliant amateur detective named Sherlock Holmes solves complicated crimes, surprising with the sharpness of his mind and the ability to draw conclusions from his friend, Dr. Watson, on behalf of whom the story is being told. "A Scandal in Bohemia", the first story in the series, was first published in the Strand magazine in 1891. The collection includes twelve stories:
1) Scandal in Bohemia: The King of Bohemia appeals to Holmes with a request to return a compromising photograph left by his former mistress.
2) Union of redheads: A red-haired man gets an easy high-paying and meaningless job. One day, he discovers that his employers have disappeared. He asks Holmes to solve the mystery of the disappearance of generous employers.
3) Identification: Holmes is approached by a girl whose fiancé disappeared on the eve of the wedding, having previously taken an oath from her to wait for him in case of unforeseen circumstances. The girl's stepfather is very disadvantageous to this investigation.
4) Boscombe Valley Mystery: An old man who made his fortune in Australia is killed. His son is accused, but his fiancee is sure of the groom's innocence and hires Holmes to save the accused.
5) Five orange seeds: Many years ago, an American received an envelope in the mail with five orange seeds and an inscription - three letters "K" ... The activities of the Ku Klux Klan are being investigated
