At the age of 14 or 15 pupils prepare for their General Certificate of Secondary Education. If British children don't leave school at the age of 16, they continue their education in the sixth form. Then after two years of study they take their 'A' Level exams. 'A' stands for 'Advanced'. Private schools are expensive and they are sometimes called independent. Many people in Britain are against private schools and they stand for equal opportunities for secondary school children. That's why they believe that all children should go to a usual British compulsory school.
