Michael and his friends watched TV together

One afternoon, Michael invited some of his friends round to his house. He phoned them all and asked, “Are you free this afternoon? Can you come to my house? Lots of other people are coming. We can watch TV together”. Four of Michael’s friends answered, “Yes, I can come. Thanks for inviting me”. The only problem was that all his friends liked very different things and they all wanted to watch different programmes on the television. It was very difficult to find something which everybody could enjoy.

Betty liked sport and wanted to watch football or tennis. “I love watching sport”, she said. William hated sport but loved programmes about animals. He wanted to watch a film about whales and octopuses. Sarah wanted to see a film about dinosaurs and Harry said there was an interesting programme about the environment. They talked about which programme would be best for everybody and in the end they decided to watch a film about a famous circus, which had some very funny clowns. Michael said, “I am very happy that we decided on a programme that everybody wants to watch”.

They all watched the film together and enjoyed it very much. Their favourite clown could jump from tree into a box. After the film, Michael’s mother brought in a big pizza and salad for them to eat. They all said “Wow! That looks great! Thank you,”
