1 Часто для усиления значения прилагательных их употребляют в сочетании со специальными усилительными наречиями (really (действительно), pretty (достаточно) и extremely (чрезвычайно)), при этом прилагательные используются в своей начальной форме, а не в превосходной.

2 Прилагательные в превосходной степени употребляются с артиклем the.

3 А вот сравнительная степень используется без артикля.

4 Сравнительная степень наречий образуется при помощи слова more: carefully - more carefully, slowly - more slowly.

5 Если есть слово than (чем), значит тут что-то сравнивается и нужна сравнительная степень прилагательного hot - hotter.
