IN A LOT OF PAIN
‘Ross? Ross?’ I heard a voice repeat my name a few times. I opened my eyes slowly and tried (1) to look around.
I didn't recognise the place and they must (2) have seen it in my eyes. ‘Can you hear me?’ (3) the same voice asked.
‘Yes,’ I answered weakly.
‘You’re in hospital,’ said a tall friendly-looking man, (4) who looked like a doctor.
When I tried to move to see if there was anyone else in the room, I almost screamed. I felt a sharp pain in my chest and I thought it would never go away. ‘Don't move,’ the doctor said. ‘You probably broke a few ribs in the accident, and they won’t get better (5) unless you rest.’
So I kept still, looking at the ceiling and trying (6) not to move. After a while another doctor came and
(7) told me they (8) were taking me to a different part of the hospital to (9) do some tests. I still didn’t remember what (10) had happened to me, but I was beginning to feel a bit better.
3 the same - то же самый.
5 unless -
9 to do tests -
