(Поскольку кинотеатры и театры написаны во множ. числе, речь идёт о часто повторявшихся действиях в прошлом, и значит, нужно использовать Past Simple)

4. It was summer but it was snowing when I woke up.

(когда проснулся, шёл снег - это длительное действие)

5. I arrived home in the morning, then I slept all day.​

(Здесь мы просто называем действия, их длительность не важна)
