The Internet is a great invention. It has changed the lives of almost all  the people on our planet.  The internet  has become an important part of every person’s life. People have become so dependent on the internet, that they even can’t imagine a day without it. Is it good or bad? We’ll try to find out.

People use the internet for different purposes:

1) Communication.  We can chat with friends, meet new people and connect to our distant relatives with the help of video calls. But Internet seems to increase the distance between people. People see each other less in real life.

2) Movies, music, books. We can download or watch any movie, listen to any song or  read any book. From one side, it’s great to have everything right here online.  From the other side, it’s not very good that people have stopped reading paper books and newspapers.

3) Business. We can mention Internet shops, different services and so on.

4) Entertainment. We can play online games or visit entertaining websites.

One of the main advantages of Internet is its efficiency. You can find the information you’re looking for in several seconds. It is very convenient for students, professionals, experts and other people.

But there are some drawbacks of the internet.  First of all we should mention viruses, which can be very dangerous for any computer. Also constant use of a computer and smart phones is bad for your health.

I believe that the Internet is a friend. We should be grateful to the inventors of this service that has changed our life for the better. I can’t live without the Internet but I also understand that it might be harmful.  In my opinion, people should spend less time online and more offline.
