I live in Perm. It is my native city. It is a big city on the Kama river with a population of about one million people.

Perm is an industrial city. There is a big hydroelectric power station on the river. There are oil and gas processing plants and many other enterprises here.

The city is rather green. I like to walk and ski in the Chernyayevsky Forest. But my favorite place is the Gorky Park with cozy cafes, carousels, mini zoo and the Ferris wheel.

There are many landmarks in Perm. One of the most famous tourist attractions is the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Another architectural gem is the Temple of Ascension in the center of Perm.

Numerous sculptures give a very special charm to our city. One can find a nice monument of Perm Bear on Lenin street in front of the central department store. People believe that touching his nose or paw brings good luck. The bear is a symbol of natural wealth of the region. It is also depicted on our flag and coat of arms.

People like to make photos with Permyak - the Salty Ears sculpture. Salt production has historically been an important sector of the city economy. The workers carried sacks of salt on their shoulders, chafing their necks and ears.  So red and swollen ears used to be a feature of Perm men.

Our city is a cultural center of Perm Krai. There are a lot of museums and theaters here. Perm Opera and Ballet House named after Tchaikovsky is very popular. Recently I went there with my parents to the ballet. It was a great show. My parents also like At The Bridge Theater.

So, there are a lot of interesting places in our city. I like to live here.
