Accused of a terrible crime, John Coffey finds himself in the Cold Mountain suicide block. The newcomer was of astonishing height and was frighteningly calm, which, however, did not affect the attitude towards the unresponsive head of the block, Paul Edgecomb, who was used to executing the sentence.

The film is touching, sad and very unfair.
