I'd like to tell about the International Space Station (ISS)
1. The International Space Station (ISS) is a multi-nation construction project ( it is a “co-operative programme” between Europe, the United States, Russia, Canada and Japan, according to the European Space Agency (ESA) that is the largest single structure humans ever put into space. Its main construction was completed between 1998 and 2011. It has been fully occupied since Nov. 2, 2000.
2. 244 individuals from 19 countries have visited the International Space Station. Top participating countries include the United States (153 people) and Russia (50 people).
I don't know who is living there at the moment.
3. Astronauts on the International Space Station, or ISS, often spend six to 12 months in space, orbiting Earth. Astronauts still need to do their everyday living, such as working, eating, relaxing and exercising, but with fewer resources than they have on Earth.
Astronauts keep learning. They do all the science experiments that need to happen on the space station. Astronauts also need to learn how to operate parts of the space station, such as the robotic arm.
Astronauts need to keep their muscles strong when they’re in space. One way they do this is by running on a treadmill which has bungee cords so they don’t float away.
Astronauts observe Earth, they love to take pictures and videos of Earth from the window of the space station. They keep in touch with their families by email and videoconference. Astronauts stay clean, they have special ways to keep clean while they’re in space. Everything floats on the space station – even water! – so astronauts in space need to get creative.
Every few months, a spacecraft travels up to the space station to bring supplies from Earth that astronauts need. Astronauts get fresh fruit – a real treat! – new experiments to work on, clean clothes to wear, clean water to drink and food to eat until the next resupply mission comes, plus a few other treats from home.
Astronauts play soccer on the International Space Station. They take time for fun. Astronauts have some time every day to relax and do whatever they enjoy most.
But there are some things that astronauts on the space station can’t do: Open a window. Breathe fresh air. Wash clothes. Walk - floating is cool, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to walk around.
