Brown:You see, the cell in the nervous system send out long processes to form the nerves, those in the muscles become long and striped in appearance, and those which form fat become filled with fat droplets which distend the cells
Ivanov: And what about the cells in future bones, tendons, cartilages? Are they also different to a certain extent?
Brown:You are quite right. Thus, in the future bones, some cells deposit lime salts, and others from cartilage; while in tendons, they product long white fibers of a gelatinous substance
Ivanov: Are there any cells that change little or retain their primitive characters?
Brown: In some organs the cells change little, for example, in liver, and the white blood corpuscles retain their primitive characters most entire. Tumors, especially malignant ones, have a highly cellular structure. And their cells are either of embrionic type or, at best, form poor imitations of the tissues in which they grow
