. AuezovThe name of the great Kazakh writer M. Auezov is well known in the world. M. Auezov was born on the 28th of September 1897 in a nomadie family in Semipalatinsk oblast.
His grandfather was a well-educated person and he taught a small boy to read and to write. When M. Auezov was only 6 years old he had met Abai. First of all he studied at school in aul. Then he was sent in Semipalatinsk according the wish of his uncle Kasymbai. He studied at the specialized school and then graduated the teaching seminary. In Semipalatinsk he began his public work.
From 1923-28 he studied at the Leningrad University at the philological faculty.
M. O. Auezov was not only the great writer, but also a great dramatist. He was one of the founders of the Kazakh theatre. Many plays such as "Enlik-Kebek", "Aiman-Sholpan", "Abai" were written by M. Auezov.
He was a talented translator too. He translated many works of Shakespeare, Tolstoy, London, Gogol, Turgenev.
He was also a great scientist. He studied the life and work of Abai. The great work of M. Auezov is a novel "The Path of Abai".This novel was translated into many languages of the world. In 1946 M. Auezov became a member of Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. He died in 1961. All the progressive people in the world know the name of M. O. Auezov.
