главной причиной дуэли было то что Швабрин оскорбил любимую девушку Гринева то есть - Машу. Швабрин сказал что стихи Гринева полная чушь и Маша , как девушка легкая , пришла бы к нему ночью за простые сережки. Оскорбившись тем что Швабрин буквально сказал что Маша - легкодоступная и глупая, Гринев вызвал его на дуэль. Проблема была в том что дуэли были запрещены и дуэль проводилась под риском наказания обоих .Во время дуэли вмешался Савельич из-за которого Гринев отвлекся и был ранен в плечо Швабриным

Гринев был готов объяснить почему он так сделал ,  а Швабрин как обычно отмазывался. Швабрин - очень подлый , корыстный и скупой человек который хотел подставить Гринева чтобы добиться брака с Машей
