from my point of a view it is really difficult to live in desert without any technological conveniences. there are very hot days and cold nights. you need a lot of water, closed place to hide from sun and air conditioner. but as an exception there are people in the deserts. they live there without technologies. their skin got used to the sun and they can survive without water for some days. they travel on camels and wear closed clothes. so, I wouldn't like to live in desert because this area isn't adapted for normal live.

well, not quite. My friends like it more, they would like to live there. Well, let's say yes, then it would be very hot there and I know little about emptying. But if I had the choice "to live in a deserted place or not to walk for a year," then I would choose not to walk a year. And if I didn't want to and they forced me, then most likely I would hide or go to the police. The desert is a natural area. And you can see there. For the extream, I would live there.
