The earliest theatres we know about appeared in Greece where theatre lovers enjoyed drama in the form of tragedies and comedies. Greek playhouses looked like big stadiums open to the sky, but they were so good that everyone could see and hear the actor well. Roman theatres looked very much like Greek ones. The Romans built a theatre in nearly every large town in the country. We still remember some of the Greek and Roman dramas and watch them in modern theatres.
