Past simple - simple past tense
The Past Simple time is used to indicate an action that has occurred at a specific time in the past and has already expired.
To clarify the moment when an action was taken in the past, when using the Past Simple time, words such as are usually used:

in 1980 - in 1980 Past Continuous - the past long time
