A steam train locomotive is powered when coal or wood is burned to boil water to make. The steam goes into a pipe and builds up enough pressure to move a piston. The piston moves a crankshaft that moves the wheels on the train locomative. When the steam in the pipe is released, the piston moves back to its original position. This cycle is repeated over again and again.
