five top tips
1   We all want to reduce our impact on the environment. What practical things can we do which will make a difference?
2   Cars, motorcycles and planes all cause a lot of pollution. Try to walk or cycle. It’s also good exercise.
3   We throw away a lot of things which we can use again. Did you know that recycling one tin can save enough energy to power a television for three hours?
4   We throw away a third of all the food we buy. At least half of the food which we throw away is fresh and we could eat it.
5   Buy things which don’t have a lot of packaging. Governments are trying to make supermarkets reduce their packaging, but progress is slow.
6   Bottles and cans in the streets look horrible, but they are also an environmental problem. Use the bins.​
