5 апреля 1942 года на льду Чудского озера произошла битва, именуемая в истории как «Ледовое побоище». Значение этой битвы состоит в том, что была ослаблена военная мощь шведских и немецких рыцарей, стремившихся, воспользоваться удобным случаем — нашествием монголо-татар, чтобы захватить Новгородскую землю. Казалось бы, очередная битва мало ли их было в истории России. Но значимость Ледового побоища намного больше, чем просто отражение нападения противника с Запада. Эта битва показала силу русского духа, полководческий талант Александра Невского, который защищал не просто русскую землю, а веру и Отечество.
