Many talented teens enjoy painting and drawing as a hobby. Some dream of making it their career. But is being a visual artist (1) a realistic career plan?
Unfortunately, for most young people a career as a visual artist . It can be extremely challenging to earn a living. This is because it is difficult to sell artwork unless you are well known, and it takes years of trying and a lot of luck (2) . Also, people’s taste in art varies and sometimes only some styles of art are popular. As a result, an artist (3) might never sell a painting.
On the other hand, there are plenty of career options that involve art in some way. For example, an aspiring artist could work as an illustrator or graphic designer. This (4) and still earn a living.
However, if an artist is working for someone else, they are not completely free to express their own creative ideas. This means that (5).
All an all, it is not easy to make it as a visual artist. Nevertheless, some people do succeed, and it is a personal decision if it is worth taking a chance and reaching for your dream in spite of the challenges.
