In Kyrgyz culture many traditions are connected with the birth of a child. One of these traditions is laying a baby into beshir, a wooden cradle. Beshik is made from archa ( juniper ) or fir tree .Parents organize a ceremonial feast , beshik toi,when the baby is placed in the cradle for the time. On this occasion, the baby's parents lay the table with delicious national dishes and invite relatives, neighbours and friends to the feast. After the guests have a meal, they give their blessing to a newborn baby.
The most interesting part of the celebration is a crable custom. Parents of baby's mother should bring beshik with all the necessary things. Respectable elderly women burn up the juniper and move the
burning juniper around the beshik to drive away evil spirits from it .
Then the beshik is greased with butter to make the baby's future life smooth as butter and successful .After the child
is laid into the beshik, the mother should take it and walk to the doorstep and back
bowing to the guests.They give their blessing to a newborn baby and his/her mother. Finally , a cradlesong is sung by the mother .
