KathyGFD: Если бы это было утверждение, was +..., тогда можно было бы даже оба варианта рассмотреть, как верные. Но тут wasn't +, и как часть сказуемого, тут правильно будет very. He wasn't very helpful. А с rather даже перевод корявый получается.
KathyGFD: Native speaker мне подтвердил только что, что тут ответ very, как у меня. А в + было бы rather. Good luck!
