Объяснение:

Нужно просто запомнить, после каких именно глаголов используется герундий (глагол+ing) или инфинитив (с частицей to или без неё).

Например, после следующих глаголов и выражений необходимо использовать инфинитив с частицей to: agree, appear, afford, decide, expect, happen, learn, manage, fail, offer, plan, pretend, promise, refuse, seem, teach, tend, threaten, want, would like, can’t wait, be able, have и др.

Эти глаголы требуют после себя инфинитива без частицы to: can, could, may, might, must, should, had better, would rather и др.

Герундий употребляется после: admit, avoid, can’t help, can’t stand, carry on, deny, enjoy, fancy, finish, give up, keep on, imagine, involve, mind, miss, postpone, practice, risk, suggest.

После некоторых глаголов можно использовать и инфинитив, и герундий без разницы в значении (continue to do / doing, begin to do / doing, start to do / doing, finish to do / doing).

После других глаголов выбор формы влияет на смысл предложения. См. таблицу во вложении
