John Wesley Hardin was an American Old West outlaw, gunfighter, and controversial folk icon. He was born in 1853 and died in 1895, living his life in Texas, U.S.. He had troubles at school and often was taunted by other students. Hardin often got into trouble with the law from an early age. He killed his first man at the age of 15, claiming he did so in self-defense. At the age of 23, John was sentenced to 24 years in prison for murder, and at that time he claimed to have killed 42 men. While in prison, Hardin studied law and wrote an autobiography. Within a year of his release in 1894, Hardin was killed by John Selman in an El Paso saloon.
