1) Peter was rather exhausted after the work in the garden. (We use rather to express the idea of more than was expected.)

2) I've quite forgotten to call my friend. (quite используется с глаголами, выражающими завершенное действие, типа forget, recover, finish)

3) Quite a number of people gathered near the Town Hall. (это идиома/устойчивое выражение)

4) Mila's little boy seems to be rather intelligent for his age. (передает удивление говорящего)
