В поэме Лермонтова "Мцыри" бой с барсом- кульминационный эпизод.Показано слияние животной силы и человеческой ярости.Ведь благодаря чему Мцыри смог победить барса? Он был слабее его, благодаря своей воле к победе,стремлению во что бы то ни стало выжить,природу Мцыри как бы "победил", но с людским равнодушием не справился.Для автора и барс, и Мцыри- звенья одной цепи-природы.И бой с барсом не воспринимается как единоборство с противником, ибо Мцыри ощущает себя частичкой того же самого мира:«Как будто сам я был рожден В семействе барсов и волков».Однако побег Мцыри был трагически обречен. Оказывается, все три дня он блуждал в окрестностях монастыря. Родина осталась по-прежнему недостижимой. Путь героя оказался замкнутым по кругу. В «Мцыри» заметно влияние грузинского фольклора. Эпизод борьбы с барсом основан на мотивах грузинской народной песни, отразившейся также в бессмертной поэме Шота Руставели «Витязь в тигровой шкуре». Лермонтову в соответствии с его замыслом очень важно было показать, что физически слабый юноша оказывается победителем в схватке благодаря могуществу его духа, неудержимому стремлению к свободе. Однако победить судьбу ему не удалось.
